Cold Happy Days

These have been such happy days, spent with my husband and two dogs. I think we've watched a record number of movies (and we're still not done yet); we take walks in the very cold fresh air, me snapping photos of all the rustic beauty winter offers; we share meals together, nap, read, paint, and have long conversations about everything.

For many years I took hour-long jogs every morning before the sun came up, and now I am motivated to start again, though I'll begin with power-walking since I'm out of shape and have very little condition. I am so happy that the new year has begun, bringing with it inspiration and fresh energy.

Ramon goes back to work next week and I'll re-open my shop, so these are the last few days of relaxed luxury. They have been so enjoyable, so I am sad to see them end. But at the same time, there is something about the rhythm of daily life that I am looking forward to.

Enjoy these winter days,

xoxo country girl

P.S. The first picture is of the town center here where we live. Isn't it lovely?

  1. Good luck starting back running! It's such a wonderful release. It makes me feel new every time I run.

But I have to run in the evenings. My body won't do it in the mornings. Power to you for going before the sun is up.

There's a giveaway at my end today, if you're interested!

  3. Dawn, seeing that first photo, I had to call over my fiance and show him how beautiful it was. He asked where it is, and I told him Austria. I of course immediately followed up with how soon are WE moving to Austria!

Good luck with the running -- will Kiki and Boston run with you?

  13. Wow, what amazing photographs. My husband and I had the quietest Christmas holidays we have ever had this year and spent them in a similar fashion to yours - lots of films, walks and cozy time.

Hope you new years resolutions work out for you.

  14. Thank you for all the kind words!

Julie: I think the berries are some sort of wild viburnum opulus, which has these common names: Guelder Rose, Water Elder, European Cranberrybush, Cramp Bark, Snowball Tree.

I am going to go back in summer to see what it's flowers look like.

Congratulations for the inspiration to get out early and move, breathe and as it happens naturally, contemplate while moving in your life.
We both will be doing it, who knows, maybe even at the same time.
I saw the new moon last evening and thought of you...dedicated my GG chant this morning to you too.

PS. I love the new top bar - are those your paintings? The Winnie the Pooh quote is fantastic too - I'll try and remember that one next time I have a Piglet moment and start worrying about things that may never happen!
